“When Ryan and Jay asked me to join the project, the immediate challenge was the idea of re-designing a Quincy icon—The Patio is definitely that. I immediately started researching to understand what made The Patio so popular and so beloved. The space is dear to so many people and has been for so long. Think of the families who have had every birthday, prom anniversary, celebrations, and yes, even mourned the loss of loved ones here at The Patio. I did not want to disappoint, but I also knew that one cannot recreate history and experience. But, we can take parts of the past and re-envision today to create a new shared experience.”

“I wanted to create a space that feels cohesive, accessible, and fresh, yet true to the building and space that it encompasses. The building has such a rich history and being that it is of an early 20th-century era, I felt that drawing from “café society” in the great cities of Europe (Budapest, Prague, Vienna, etc.) would working nicely to invoke a feeling of excitement and new ideas. Something vibrant, something special. We have tried to be thoughtful and careful with every decision and with this new space, we know that we are serving the memory with love and hope for the future.”

Ellen Curtis

Ellen Curtis – Director of Strategy & Operations

Ellen is excited to add The Patio Restaurant & Lounge to the exquisite list of American dining restaurants she’s helped shape and lead over the past 15 years. Born in Chanute, Kansas, Ellen quickly climbed her way up and through the New York restaurant scene: first at Del Frisco, then Town, Sapa, and then finally, David Burke & Donatella.

From New York she made her way west to Los Angeles, leading iconic eateries at Spago, and then Wolf Gang Puck’s MICHELIN starred Cut, located in the famed Beverly Wilshire. For Curtis, success in the business relies on momentum and energy. “I like to think I bring a great sense of optimism to my role, strong guest connections, and a passion for executing exemplary events.” Indeed, she brought a decade of experience earned at other Wolfgang Puck addresses in Los Angeles, as well as strong relationships developed with culinary talent and guests at high-end restaurants in New York, many of whom follow her career moves.
